I am a girly girl
There is this poem called manly man by bradley hathaway but I decided to do a girls version and here it is ” This poem represents the women God challenges me to be everyday….but lets face it, it’s not easy to be a Girly Girl ;-)
Watch me flip my long brown hair, pretty blue eyes,
And YES I have on mascara,
Eye shadow, skinny figure, snap in a Z,
Hips sway when I walk, accessorize any outfit,
I am a Girly Girl,
Within this curvy frame,
Obviously rib lied and chest lays a heart
That beats to the drum of the Jonas Brothers,
That their wild over obsessive fans have yet to grasp,
If danger lurks about, I’ll have an outfit to seek it out,
If that adventure abounds, I will NOT be found,
(Cause I might break a nail).
And if I’m gonna sweat,
You gotta bet it’s to burn off carbs,
Cause I am a Girly Girl,
Cause I brush my hair, and power my noise,
And when you look this good you gotta strike a pose,
I can get whatever I want, just by batting my eyes,
(Accept that one time I wanted a pony).
I giggle, flirt, wink, when a guy’s near by,
Deny me Chocolate and I will punch you in the eye!
I am a Girly Girl, or am I?
Being the king of kings daughter
Doesn’t mean I can act like a princess,
It requires serving others first with love, tears, and sweat,
It’s not all about the sugar and fluff,
But rejoicing in the Lord when times are tough, like Mary,
I wanna be a women who finds favor with the Lord,
Cause eternal life with him is the greatest reward,
And choosing what’s right is doing what’s hard,
Even though it isn’t pretty to go the extra yard,
Surley I am a Girly Girl,
When it comes to God’s people
I want to teach them, serve them, and love them,
And not just the boys either,
Although I am waiting for that special one,
Not a knight in shinning armor,
But humble and seeks to be my equal,
He will love God more than he could ever love me,
And I will submit to him, respect him, trust him,
I will love him as I love myself,
And we will unite together as one flesh,
And share with each other,
And laugh and cry through the days of our lives,
Our love will be passed down to our children,
And each of them will know they are well loved,
And fearfully made in God’s image,
You may be thinking while biting your lip,
“That’s not womanhood, shut up and sit”,
But ask any fear person in these pews,
What I have to say is honest and true,
Cause I am a Girly Girl.
Biblical Back-Up:
(A lot of the material in this poem is inspired by scripture)
“It requires serving others first with love tears and sweat.”
Mark 10: 45
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to give his life as a ransom for many”
Mark 12:31 (and like 100 other places in the Bible ;-)
“Love you neighbor as you love yourself.”
“But rejoicing in the Lord when times are tough”
Phillippians 4:4
“Rejoice in the Lord always, I will say it again. REJOICE!”
“Like Mary, I wanna be a women who finds favor with the Lord.”
Luke 1: 28-30
“The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her ‘Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with the Lord”
“And I will submit to him, respect him, and trust him. And I will love him as I love myself. And will you unite together as one flesh.”
Ephesians 4:22, 28, and 31
“Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord…In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself…For the this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”
“And fearfully made in God’s image”
Psalms 139:14
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
Genesis 1:27
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”
