How do I feel closer to God?

Some of you girls have asked me "How do I feel closer to God?" I wanted to give you a great quote from a guy named Rich Mullins that speaks of this....

"When I read the lives of most of the great saints,they didn't necessarily feel very close to God most of the time. When I read the Psalms, I get the feeling that David and the Psalmist felt quite very far away from God most of the time. Closeness to God is not about feelings, closeness to God is about OBEDIENCE. I know that when we obey occasionally the feeling follows, not always, but occasionally, I know that if we disobey, we don't have a shot at it."

Recently I went on a Christian conference, and it was mentioned in one of the talks that the only way to increase faith and get closer to God is to seek Him. That simply means by reading the Bible and by the daily act of Repentance and Faith- a deliberate decision to turn from our sin (repentance) and to Him (faith). Like the quote says - obedience, rather than fluffy spiritual feelings.
